Stink Bugs
Stink bugs, also known as shield bugs, are small insects belonging to the family Pentatomidae, characterized by their shield-shaped bodies and distinct odor when disturbed or crushed. These insects are agricultural pests, feeding on a wide variety of crops such as fruits, vegetables, and grains, which can result in significant economic losses for farmers. Originally native to Asia, stink bugs have spread to other parts of the world, including North America and Europe, often becoming invasive species. Their ability to release foul-smelling chemicals as a defense mechanism against predators makes them unappealing to most natural enemies. Despite efforts to control their populations through insecticides and biological controls, stink bugs remain a persistent challenge in agricultural regions worldwide.
